Products: O-Link™ Wireless Pulse Oximetery Adapter

In 2003 Senscio expanded through sale of shares to investors to take advantage of an opportunity to develop add-on devices that add wireless functionality to existing pulse oximetry equipment. The O-Link™ is a wireless adapter for conventional pulse oximeters.

The O-Link™ wireless adapter is made up of two components: a patient module similar in size and shape to a wrist-watch and a monitor module plug that is compatible with standard sensor ports on non-wireless oximeters. The O-Link™ adapter digitizes the signal from a standard sensor and transmits the signal wirelessly to the monitor module to convert back to an analogue signal which the oximeter can analyse and display.

Importantly, the O-Link™ adapter transmits sensor information without pre-processing, allowing the receiving oximeter to perform exactly as it would with a standard sensor.

The O-Link operates on a “virtual wire” principle which allows customers to retain all the functionality of their existing system while accessing the benefits of wireless operation as an add-on feature to their existing pulse oximetry equipment. The ability to provide an add-on to existing oximetry hardware is currently an unexploited market and with patents pending, Senscio are well placed to capitalise on this opportunity.

The O-Link design phase has been completed, and pre-compliance tests have been conducted. Design dossiers and technical manuals have been prepared ready for market authorisation.
